Just a quick tip for people looking at buying what sellers claim to be "BRAND NEW"  mobile phones.  Simply ask the seller to provide you with the IMEI number.  Ring up the manufacturer of your phone and check to see if the IMEI number has been noted for instance Refurbished, repaired, upgraded stolen etc...  Please note tho that this merely tells you if the phone has been sent to a service center. It does not mean the phone is brand new.  Still with that said, it's at least something to ask before making your purchase.

  • Q. What is an IMEI number?

A. IMEI stands for 'International Mobile Equipment Identity' and is the handset's serial number. The IMEI is 15 digits long and can be found by entering *#06# on most GSM handsets or by looking on the outside of the phones box.
