Most people think that all birds eat seed, seed and more seed. Oh and I think they drink water....?
NO.
To stay healthy and happy, a bird must have a balance between pellets, vegetables and fruit.

So how do I do this?

When I bought my first parrot many years ago, I thought that seed was enough as the pet shop gave that as the only option. After much research I discovered that birds fed specially formulated pellets combined with fruit and veges lived longer and better quality lives.
Birds should have access to pellets at all times, have their water changed at least daily and given fresh fruit and vegetables every day. Species have different dietary requirements, for example a Hyacinth Macaw will need more fatty nuts than most other parrots.
Most pet birds will be accustomed to eating only seed if purchased from a pet shop, however a good breeder should have fed them pellets as their staple food already. To convert a bird to pellets, go to  The Spruce and search 'convert birds to pellets.'

Vetafarm Essentials

Where can buy them?

There are many brands of formulated pellets such as Vetafarm, Roudybush and Passwell available on eBay.
I personally use Vetafarm Essentials for my canaries, budgies and conures mixed with other types depending on species.
