MINERAL SPECIMEN SELLING GUIDE!

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE EITHER MINERAL COLLECTORS OR MINERAL DEALERS AND AT TIMES OTHERS THAT HAVE COME ACROSS A MINERAL COLLECTION TO SELL!!!

Like all collectors, mineral collectors are very fussy in their approach to buying, WHEN YOU SELL ON E-BAY, you must always include the internationally recognised names for minerals - E.G. Elbaite must be described as a variety of tourmaline. The specimen must be well described, the source of the specimen must always be included - GOOD MINERAL COLLECTIONS ALWAYS HAVE EXCELLENT LOCALITY DATA! Where a mineral is relatively unknown it is very wise to explain to potential buyers its FORMULA, CRYSTAL SYSTEM AND HARDNESS! Dimensions are very important, a 1 cm long quartz crystal will be much cheaper than a 5 cm long quartz and a gemmy tourmaline of 1 cm in length will be far more expensive than a non gemmy tourmaline if 4 cm in length. When it comes to postage and shipping of mineral specimens, PLEASE include a rate of postage and packaging that indicates to the buyer that the item will be delivered to them well protected. AND WHEN SELLING ANY ITEM ON E-BAY PLEASE TELL THE BUYER THAT YOUR PREFERRED METHOD OF PAYMENT IS "PAYPAL" - BOTH SELLER AND BUYER ARE THEN PROTECTED.

AND FINALLY ALWAYS BE AWARE OF YOUR COUNTRY'S LAWS REGARDING RADIO-ACTIVE AND OTHER TOXIC MINERALS - NEVER EVER SELL BLUE ASBESTOS WITHIN AUSTRALIA OR OUTSIDE OF AUSTRALIA WITHOUT THE PROPER AUTHORISATION!
