I am a USB memory drive seller on ebay. I knew and I found so many ebay sellers sell fake USB drive on ebay, and I knew where are those fake USB drive came from.
My supplier is a Hong Kong company and they supply me genuine capacity USB memory drive. However if the seller stock USB memory drive from a company in China, his/her USB memory drive will mostly be a fake USB drive.
What is a fake USB memory drive?
A fake drive is made by a 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB USB drive and written some program to make them become 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB.
When you transfering files between PC and the fake USB drive. You will found the transfering speed is extremely slow and after you filled all the space in the USB drive, you couldn't open those files and even couldn't transfer back to your PC. You will be losing all you file and data!
How to avoid fake USB memory drive?
The selling price of a fake USB memory drive is always cheaper than a genuine USB memory drive because the actually capacity in a fake USB drive is only 512 MB, 1 GB or 2 GB. Hence, if two 16 GB USB memory drive, the fake one can only sell for AUD $20 - $30 but the genuine one is selling at above AUD $40.
You see the big different between prices, don't buy thing that only compare with prices and go for the cheap one because you are not buying cheap but buying more expensive of a 512 MB, 1 GB or 2 GB drive.
People also copy some branded product such as: Sandisk, Kingston, Sony, PNY...etc. Don't buy any branded USB memory drive that is extremely cheap and couldn't find the style or design in their website.
Sellers of fake USB memory drive won't give you warranty because there is no warranty from their supplier, it is a fake drive, it must be doesn't work, why should it has a warranty?
Low feedback score/new account seller
The fake drive sellers have so many ebay account, they usually locates in Hong Kong, China and even registered in your country. Some new account ebay seller is a risk of selling fake drive, and check their feedback score, you will find some buyers already given them negative feedback stated they are selling fake/faulty USB drive/SD card.
How to test a USB memory drive?
A free software on the Internet call "H2testw" which allow you to test you USB drive. This software is easy to use and the report will clearly tell you what your drive is.
Here are just the guidelines of how to distinguish genuine drive and fake drive according to my experience and knowledge.
I wish sellers will stop selling fake drive, think the money you took is illegal and no conscience, it will cause your buyers lose their important file/data which may affect their carrer, study, friend, family...........
