OILCLOTH

Forget the old definition of oilcloth - the type of fabric that outdoor clothing used.  New modern day oilcloths have embraced new technology.  There are now a number of types of this style of fabric, all of which are easy wipe-over and very practical.  The number of uses for oilcloth are many from easy care wipe over tablecloths to a whole range of accessories, clothing and other items.

There is an all PVC oilcloth that comes from Mexico, that is printed with a design, and has reinforcing threads on the reverse.

The other main typle of oilcloth is a PVC or vinyl coated (or laminated) cotton print fabric.  These fabrics are strong and practical and very suitable to be made into all types of bags and accessories.  The most popular design used by Chill Designs with oilcloth is a shopper tote bag style which can be used for any number of purposes from Beach or Shopping tote to Diaper or Nappy Bag.

Oilcloth is very easy care.  Just wipe over with a warm damp cloth (and a little mild soap if necessary, wipe with clean cloth after).  However DO NOT MACHINE WASH OR HAND WASH BY IMMERSING IN WATER.  DO NOT IRON YOUR OILCLOTH.  If your oilcloth has creases just leave in a warm sunny spot and they will soon relax.  DO NOT STORE DAMP.
