Hi Guys,

Today I would like to share with you guys about the great experience I had with a scammer. This is very helpful for everyone!!!

I put an ad on Gumtree selling my scooter for $1,500. A scammer come to me with an offer and asking me for my bank account detail or Paypal email so he can send the money to me IMMEDIATELY! THIS IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

So I gave him my bank account, also ask him his personal information so I can make the sales contract. He avoid giving me his personal information and tell me his shipping company will do all the paper works. He also told me that he will send me the full payment of $1,500 and addition shipping cost and ask me to send the addition shipping cost  via WESTERN UNION to his shipping company so they can arrange the delivery.

After few minutes, I receive the Paypal payment to my email say  I receive the the payment of $1,500 and additional $400 for shipping charge, $1,900 in total. The email also ask me to send the $400 to a company in Malaysia via WESTERN UNION given me the address.

When scammers send email to you under the name of Paypal, you should notice that next to the email service at paypal dot com there is always a link email which is the original generating emails under the name of Paypal. This is very smart of the scammers by the way. The email always say things like '' The payment has been deducted from buyer's account, it will come to your bank account after you send the additional $400 (shipping cost) to the shipping company by Western Union"

I called Paypal and they were very helpful in helping me solving this. They also provide me an 'iconix email authentication' which is an application that will verify the fake emails that come to your inbox. You can download it here

If you are suspicious at any emails or some thing that is 'TOO GOOD TOO BE TRUE', I can tell you it's actually 'TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE'. We are in our society today programmed to look for something easy, less effort to achieve and that makes us become 'LOYAL CUSTOMERS' for these Scam Artists.

About Western Union, I think this is the easiest way for scammers to receive your money since once you send money via Western Union, you never get it back. Be AWARE of this unless you know too well about the receiver and trust the receiver.

When something is 'too good to be true', do your research and ask other people's advice before you send money to anyone.

You can also send suspicious emails to to get verified.

Remember it's your RESPONSIBILITY to protect your own money!

Please rate this to help you and other people around the world!
