Royal Australian Mint 2003 Six Coin Proof Set,
Australia's Volunteers "MAKING A DIFFERENCE"



This outstanding proof set will ensure the drive and dedication of these tireless individuals is given lasting recognition.

The Dollar coin pad is printed in green and gold  and carries the rallying theme "Making a Difference",
the coloured dollar is only available in this proof set.

The 50 cent coin features a kaleidoscope of volunteers from emergency services, meals on wheels, shelters, charity operations as well as
conservationists, sports volunteers, firefighters and surf lifesavers, all going about their duties every day without any fanfare or fuss.

For the first time in a year set, the 20 cent piece has also been specially redesigned to carry the Volunteer theme.
This coin shows a group portrait of a tiny cross section of Australians, showing that anyone can be a volunteer.

This collector set, designed in consultation with Volunteering Australia, the national peak body on volunteering,

This tribute set salutes over 4 million Australians who give freely of their time to help others and benefit their communities with the theme:
           'Making a Difference'.

The Royal Australian Mint has said that since the phenomenal success of the Sydney Olympics
the world increasingly saw the volunteering spirit as a defining quality in the Australian character.

But as we all know the truth is that the volunteering spirit has always been there,
it's just in true laid back Aussie style, these remarkable individuals go about their duties with neither fuss nor fanfare.
