I recently read darwintigers guide and would like to add to it.
A. Shure mic's are assembled in Mexico.
B. Shure mic's DO use a black foam.
If this is not the case then all four music shops I visited in Sydney are selling copys, I did recently buy a Shure SM58 on ebay for $130.00, it was purchased from Alan Chan, and came complete with sticker and genuine sure warrenty with the correct border etc.
In closing, it is possible to buy a Shure mic at far lower prices than the $259 list price quoted by music stores, I am about to purchase a 2nd mic from Alan Chan, an AKG this time, also genuine and still sealed in the original packaging with full confidence that I will receive what I am paying for.
As darwintiger said, let the buyer beware, and deal only with ppl who have a good rating.
