On ebay, a picture is indeed worth a thousand words! Professional-looking photos can and will make your product more sellable, or even can make you sell it at a higher price. But professional photography can be really expenive, and to a lot of ebayers it's not even feasible to hire a professional photographer.

However, in this guide I will explain step-by-step how to take professional looking photos on a budget and from the convenience of your own home;

All you need is a mirror, aluminum foil and wax paper!

Step 1

For the setup of the shoot, you really need good natural light, so put an elevated surface, like a dining table or a desk next to a window that brings a lot of natural light. Make sure that your work surface is higher than the edge of the window.

Step 2

The window will be the background of your photo. Tape wax paper on it, this will make the light diffuse and will give you a nice effect.

Step 3

Lay aluminum foil on the work surface. Cover a much bigger space than the size of your product.

Step 4

Place the mirror in an angle to reflect the light coming from the window onto the front of the product. Your mirror should be large enough to reflect a good amount of light.

Tip: If you don't have a mirror, use a big piece of cardboard and wrap it with aluminum foil.

Step 5

Start shooting! take as many photos as you can so later you'll have a lot to choose from.
