The Complete Guide to Buying a Nokia Lumia 920

A smartphone released in 2012, the Lumia 920 is part of Nokia's Lumia range. It is one of the sturdier and heavy phones on the market, preferred by some over others because of this. Running on Windows Phone 8, the performance of the handset is generally praised by users.

Buying a Nokia Lumia 920 can be achieved on eBay where plenty of models will be available at low prices from a variety of sellers.

How the Lumia 920 Looks

The most noticeable feature of the phone is its size and weight. The dimensions measure 130.3mm x 70.8mm x 10.7mm, which are by no means too substantial to handle but do put the handset at the larger end of the smartphone market.

Due to the more extensive size of the phone, the Lumia 920 has an enlarged, 4.5 inch screen size that gives it a viewing advantage over many other smartphones. The capacitive sensing touch-screen, covered by high sensitivity Gorilla Glass, forms a smart and tasteful appearance.

Coming in at 185 grams, the Lumia 920 will noticeably weigh down a pocket but is also built to last. For those who are accident prone, then the benefit of the phone is that it can deal very well with knocks. The polycarbonate outer body helps with this.

The handset has curved edges, with the physical buttons (power/lock, volume control, and camera shutter) on the right-hand side. At the top is a 3.5mm jack that, when the phone is in the pocket, makes it easier to plug in headphones. The bottom edge contains a microUSB port and two small speakers.

When coming to buy the Lumia 920, consider which colour scheme is preferable. This is an advantage of eBay, where traditional blacks , whites , and greys can be searched for alongside more bold yellows and reds.

Performance of the Lumia 920

Memory – Although the 32 GB inbuilt storage capacity of the 920 is impressive, there is no external memory slot. This will be a drawback for some people but the average smartphone user will not require more than this anyway. It has a 1 GB system of RAM.

Battery – The battery of the phone is large at 2000mAh but is non removable. It copes well with general use but the more strenuous apps, media, etc can take its toll. Wireless charging is an attractive feature of the phone, although a separate charging pad is required.

System – Operating with Windows Phone 8, the Lumia 920 has a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Krait and a Qualcomm Adreno 225 GPU. Apps that are exclusive to Nokia phones are included, such as Nokia City Lens, Nokia Smart Shoot, and Nokia Drive 3 – a useful appliance as maps can be accessed without internet connection.

Camera – The 8.7 megapixels PureView back camera is one of the main selling points of the phone. The Carl Zeiss lens incorporated into the back can be quickly accessed by the physical shutter release button on the right-hand side. A short pulse, high power LED flash is also a feature.

Video – The Lumia 920 can also capture full 1080p or 720p videos in high definition and with stereo sound. Continuous Focus mode helps when coming to take videos, which are produced in the MP4 format at 30fps.

Updates – As is the case with many smartphone lines, the Lumia range is being constantly updated. Improvements for the camera, battery lifespan, and performance speed are regularly presented to owners.

Buying the Lumia 920 on eBay

eBay is home to countless amounts of phone handsets and their accessories from both Australian and international sellers. All the Nokia Lumia 920 models can be easily revealed by typing this term into the search bar on the eBay home page. Below are some more tips to find the Lumia 920 on the eBay platform:

· Select the relevant category from the refinements menu on the left-hand side of the page, with handsets listed in theMobile Phones section. For any add-ons, the Mobile Accessories section will encompass the relevant items compatible with the 920, such aschargers, cases, and batteries.

· As eBay doesn't regulate each individual listing, it is advisable to read the description of the item closely. This becomes much more important for used handsets or from seller's that have a low feedback rating. Also check if certain items come with the phone purchase, such as the instruction manual, USB charger, and Nokia headset.

  • Look for Australian sellers as a way to reduce postage costs and delivery time. Asking the seller a question is advisable if any part of the item's description appears vague or the postage/delivery requirements need to be negotiated.

If looking for a small and compact smartphone, then the Nokia Lumia is perhaps not the most appropriate handset. However, the fantastic camera, robust design, enlarged screen, and easy-to-use interface make a winner with many people.

eBay generally will have many phones available at a lower price than can be found on the high street, especially if one can be found within the Phones section on the eBay Deals site.
