Only MOVIES, and then only SOME.

I'm not sure whether it's just to confuse us, or whether there is really some method to Sony's madness, but the subject of 'region coding' (or lack thereof) is one that comes up over and over.

According to all sources, it is only movies (video) which are SOMETIMES region encoded.  I am yet to find a definitive list of exactly which titles are likely to pose problems, so below you will find a list of the UMD MOVIE TITLES which I have personally verified there are region coding issues with.
That means, I've bought them from overseas for myself, and when inserted into an Australian PSP console, they refuse to play and you receive an error message saying  "This title cannot be played.  The region is incorrect."   If you are looking for these particular titles, please just make sure they are bought from within your own region and perhaps verify with the seller that they have not been imported.
  • Hard Knocks: The Christ Benoit Story
  • Valiant (childrens' movie)
  • Dawn of the Dead -  Unrated Director's Cut
  • SAW (The first movie)
  • Wedding Crashers - Uncorked Edition
  • Chopper
  • Brokeback Mountain
  • Dreamer (Dakota Fanning)
  • House of Flying Daggers
  • ATOM (Alpha Teens On Machines) 01 Feel the Paine (Probably the whole series)
  • Bad News Bears (Billybob Thornton)
Of course, this list is not exhaustive, and as I find others I will add them for our reference.  If anyone has a confirmed title that fits this list, please feel free to let me know and I will add it. 🤓 Meanwhile I have a nice little pile of absolutely useless UMD Video discs which may someday make very pretty miniature frizbee discs.
