Washing machine Spin Speed

The faster the spin speed the less water in the clothes, therefore less energy to dry the clothes.

Capacity size

The larger the capacity of the machine the more clothes you can wash. The standard capacity size is between 5-7Kg and this will suit most households. Larger loads are catered for by 8Kg and above.

Energy Ratings and Water Ratings

Help you compare the energy and water efficiency of each appliance. With this information you can estimate the overall running cost of the machine. Front Load washers use far less water then most top load washers.

These can vary from woollen and special care modes, to quick wash/dry or sensor wash/dry programmes, but everybody's needs are different, so it is best you research the features that are most beneficial to your needs.

How big are the machines

Front load washing machine are 600mm wide x 600mm deep x 850mm high approximately. There is no standardized dimensions for top load washing machines or dryers so please check the measurements .

Tumble Dryers and Condenser dryers

When making your choice first decide on the capacity needed, sizes vary from 3.5Kg to 7Kg. You must also consider venting, some models are vented outside, while with others the air is condensed by the machine. Condenser dryers do provide an acceptable compromise where venting is not an option.

Is a Washer Dryer an overall solution?

If you are low on space and don’t mind waiting, then the washer dryer may be for you. Washer dryers are rated separately for there wash and drying capabilities. The drying capacity is half that of the wash capacity is. If you have the space it is always better to have a separate washer and dryer as you can wash & dry at the same time.
