What does Niche Marketing Mean?
Niche marketing is about finding small opportunities on the web, small areas in which people might be interested and for which they might be searching. The bigger companies may not be interested in these areas as they are not important enough but it could be something that the small business might be interested.
Perhaps small mini websites will not generate thousands of dollars every month but it may generate a $100 for example. That's OK if the effort involved in terms of creating the mini site was not too great. However you could repeat the same business model again and again. Taking into consideration that every small business could generate around a $100.00 every month, with ten niche sites, you may be able to earn up to $1000.00 per month. This obviously sounds better and what if you could create 50 mini websites.
How Do I Find A Niche?
Finding a niche requires diligent research. Whether you have access to software that harvets and sorts information or you take the more manual approach; but first you must start with ideas.
With a pen or paper or computer if thats better brainstorm a list of businesses, products and industries. Create a list of keywords and phrases you think would be used by individuals looking for these items online.
Use a software program like Wordtraker or free resources such as the Overture keyboard selector tool to find keywords for your niche(s) that have a high amount of traffic. The wordtraker research tool uses every keyword, and it tells you how many results are found on each search engine. The more searches and the fewer competitors, the better for you. Although a program like this makes does cost money, it easy to find details on how many sites compete for that market, you can also do your own research.
Concentrate your attention on question phrases such as 'how do I..' or 'where can I...'. These questions will clue you into potential markets that need servicing. Next, look in Google anwsers. Type one of your keyword into the search area. Make a note of what questions are being asked and how much people are willing to pay for answers? If you find a group of keywords with a high number of questions then enter these words in your browsers search engine.
What are the sites that come up? Do they provide the answers or solutions to the problem? How are they making money? Can you see an opportunity to service these individuals?
Once you have identified your niche, you will need to find content for it. Don't worry about which product is going to sell; this will come later. The fuel of any internet business is content. So where can you find content? Well, if you're an expert in this area you could write it yourself.but if you're not you will have to look for context somewhere else.
There are many article directories that offer a lot of content you can use. You can also find quite a bit of content just by searching the web. Use the search engines, find blogs, forums, websites ect., and last but not least you can always find inforrmation from libraries or even buy a book or two.
After you have found enough content, it is time to register a domain name. You should choose a name that has something to do with the target market, but if your intention is to create multiple mini sites you don't have to register a different domain name every time. You can save money by having one global domain name and then create sub-domain names for each business.
The question now is; "Since everything looks good, how do I make money with these sites? You'll need to follow this 3 step formula (CTM):
- Create Content
- Generate Traffic
- Monitize your website
You can build traffic by optimizing the webpage content for the search engines and by analysing your competitiors in order to build a better strategy. Blogging and pinging is a way to make sure that your site will be spidered by the search engine. Wordpress is a very good option for creating your own blog, as it allows you to post, not only articles, but web pages. You can easily build mini sites with Wordpress.
Finally there are three easy ways to earn money with your site.
1. Sell some product that you can create yourself. If you have this ability and you want to allow people to buy your products, with a credit card then the easiest way to do this is to create a PayPal account.
2. Join affiliate programs. Find people who sell products related to your market niche and who have the affiliate programs aready set up to go. You will earn comissions just by selling other people's items. A very good place to find affilitate programes or products is clickbank.com
3. Google Adsence. Create an account and include a Google add on you site. Everytime someone visits your site and clicks on one of the ads, you and Google will share in the profits.
Creating small businesses is like a game. They do not require a high investment and they may not necessarily make you rich either, however, if you start small and become familiar how your small business functions then those games may become a serious business.
