Buying or building a new home is a huge decision and you want to get full value for your investment. This means choosing a highly reputable builder, someone you know you can trust, someone who has the technical and  knowledgable skills able to build a great home, and someone that will be dealing with you professionally and fairly.

There are many good well known builders around, with little effort you will have no trouble finding a builder who is right for you. Before you enter into a legal  agreement, do a little qualifying of your own... Is this the kind of company that you want to do business with? How can you be sure that you will get the service, and the home that you want?

Home building is a serious business. It takes commitment to keep up with things that are going on in the industry. Home building requires high business skills and a proven track record of satisfied clients. Good builders are proud of their track record and they will be more than happy to inform you about their experience, strengths, and what differs them to others.They will be honest with you about what they can do for you, when, and for how much.

Professional builders are more than happy to provide you with references from their past clients. This means that as a potential client yourself, you will be able to contact past clients, and find out how satisfied they are with their homes. Ask if they were completed on time, and on budget, what the builder was like to build with- were they helpful, understanding, etc.

The work site offers many clues about the company and most importantly, the quality of the builders homes. Ask for a tour on construction, and perhaps even meet the crew who will be working on your home. Take note of details such as: Is the site clean and organized? Are materials properly stored out of the weather conditions? Is your overall impression of the site and workers positive?

Remember that when you are buying a home that you are also buying the builder. You need to pay as much attention to choosing the right builder for you as you do in choosing the home that is righ for you.
