A CD+G as their name suggests (or a CDG as they are often referred to as) are a CD with a graphics component. To hear the audio only, they can be played in a CD player. To see the on screen lyrics (graphics (video component)), you need to either have a player that plays CDGs or use a Decoder which can only be attached to the "Digital out" or "Optical Out" of your CD player, VCD player or your DVD player. These disks usually have a single colored background (no video clip) with words that change colour when it is time to sing. CDGs are more commonly used than VCDs in the USA. The reason these are more popular is that there is a wider range of songs available, and the latest release songs are released in this format first.
