The Apple iPhone 4 is a slate smartphone, and is the successor to the Apple iphone 3GS. It is primarily controlled by the user's fingertips on the multi-touch display. It was released for pre-order in June 2010.
The applications available on the phone make it ones of the best smartphones on the market. They include access to video calling, books, periodicals, movies, music, games and general web and email.
The main difference between the iPhone 4 and it's predecessors is the new design which incorporates an uninsulated stainless steel frame which acts as the phones antenna, and gives the phone an edgier, more industrial feel.
Further, the internal components of the phone are located between two panels of aluminosilicate glass, and the phone also includes a bumper which wraps around the edges and slightly raises the phone off the surface it is on, making it more scratch resistant and hardwearing than previous iPhones- perfect for those with 'drop-phone syndrome!
The iPhone 4 also includes both a front-facing VGA and rear facing 5 megapixel, LED flash camera, with 5 x digital zoom. Both useful for capturing high quality photos and video-calling, allowing the user to feel as though they are speaking to the caller face-to-face.
Reviews of the Apple iPhone 4 have been generally positive, with many calling it the best smartphone on the market. However, technical issues with the antenna and signal strength with and without a protective case have caused some to critisize the new model.
