Why Laser distance meter measuring result is inaccurate

A Laser Distance Meter sends a pulse of laser light to the target and measures the time it takes for the reflection to return. The meter measures the time between those two events, and converts this to a distance. 

The reasons cause an inaccurate result

1, Reflected surface

 If the surface is diffuse reflection, i,e. black leather, black fabric, that will casue an inaccurate reading.  You will see the red spot keep flashing and flashing and flashing. 

 On a reflected surface, i,e, a shining metal plate, concreat wall, it just flashs 3-4 times , then you will get a accurate reading.

If the target surface is not vertical to the laser beam,  it will also cause an incorrect reflacted time collection , the meter will give an inaccurate reading.
 
 

How to avoid the problem and get an accurate reading?

1, Reflected surface

Choose a reflacted surface, if you could not get one, just attach a reflacted plate to the target surface, i.e. a smalle metal plate.

2, reflacted angle.

Just attach a little plate to the target surface and bend it to vertical to the laser beam.
