The differences between a fake Canon BP-511A battery and the genuine one are as follows:-
1. Darker grey colour
2. Painted words "Canon Li-ion BATTERY PACK" (Original charactors stamped into plastic case)
3. The initials "RFP" on rectangular recess on back of battery (Original has a small circular depression further recessed with no initials)
4. No number between longer contact strips on back (Original has 69C6 on mine anyway) 5. The two shorter, wider contacts are not quite as deep where they turn up the end of the battery and arn't quite as high. (Which may the be reason the battery will not power up my Canon 5D)
The package including the clear covering appear impressive. Unfortunately I have destroyed mine and cannot compare it to the genuine package.
