The iPod is the ultimate gadjet for all users of music, photos or videos. Go for the largest harddrive as you will easily fill 20 gb with just a few photos or videos. It is also a good idea to use the hoghest setting (320 kbps) to store your songs as you get a much better soundquality. Don't go below 192 kbps as it sounds awful! If you just want a few songs one of the nano iPods will do. But iPods are very addictive and you will expand your library quickly. The resale value of a larger harddrive is also much better. If you buy a secondhand iPod check the condition of the battery as they arevery expensive to replace and it is a real hassle if you only get 2 hours with each recharge.
