G,day viewers, thought ide share a problem with the cdi unit on the 110cc and probably the 50cc,125cc engines.I have been a qualified mechanic(mostly cars, alot of small motors and moterbike exp) for over 25years.First of all the 110 belongs to my niece, and her farther takes her to the lancilon beach dunes here in WA.Theyve been a few times and always washes the quad down at home.Next outing no spark. When i got the quad i checked votlages from the trigger coil and pick up coil with the cdi disconnected, all good.No volts or very small was going to the coil with the cdi connected. So i ordered a new cdi unit. While waiting 3 days i decided to cut the cdi unit open.First i cut the small side opposite the pins, using a hacksaw, then i cut the long side opposite the pins. The whole unit was jam packed full of beachsand.I cleaned it out with electric contact cleaner and compressed air, taped it back together, put back on and a big fat spark appeared. The people who put these quads together lie the cdi unit on it back, with the pins facing up,i suggest to turn the cdi up,with the wires coming in at the top sideon.Close look at cdi i can see the epoxy resin has come away from the sides and also theres a 6pin plug on the cdi but only 5 are used.Leaving a space for sand, water, ect.Ok thats it ,hope it helps,9041876
