Three of the 11 tracks here are tunes Chris has previously recorded, "I Feel the Same," "Every Mother's Son" & "Rosalie." There are some new gems here that his fans and fans of melodic acoustic folk will love. "Hundred Dollar Valentine" that opens the set is a delightful piece of upbeat folk-rock that marries Smither's unique sense of melody with his wry lyrical sense, "I flip my switches but I don't turn on, not a flicker; I got no juice today; I had a lighter in my carry-on, but the airline took it away." "What It Might Have Been" is a classic loping lament where Chris sounds like the loneliest man on earth, "I lost a lot of things 'fore you came; I've learned that losin' is part of the game." "What They Say" has Chris' trademark foot tap keeping time to a joyful tune in juxtaposition with his wry lyric, "They say the good die young, but it ain't for certain; I been good all day & I ain't hurtin'." Other tracks like the intriguing "Feeling By Degrees" & the knee-slap ditty "Make Room for Me" are also delights.
Every new release by Chris Smither is a cause for cheering & "Hundred Dollar Valentine" is no exception! Enjoy! ~ Vine Voice
I am selling about 500 American copies of CDs. All are new. These come from a warehouse clearance. Some are promotional copies; others are standard retail copies. Starting price is just 10 cents a CD.
This will be my final sale season (and will probably run till April - May) as I am finding it too hard to source more stuff at a reasonable price.
Many are rare / obscure
/ never released in Australia.
Some come with different artwork; check the format description. Note that some have been in storage uncased for up to 20 years so may have small surface marking; where they do I have checked that they play perfectly.
All are sold without
plastic cases unless specifically stated as this reduces your postage cost, though some are in digipacks if that was how they were released. I can supply plastic cases but these are $1 extra to cover cost of the case plus extra postage.
Postage is $2 each for first and second item, then $1 per item for additional CDs over 2. For bigger orders I can ship up to 500 grams (10 regular CDs) for $7.
International buyers add $6 to the
total. Because countries vary, if it costs less I'll refund the difference. For example up to 250 grams (3 CDs without cases) to the USA, Canada or UK is $7.
New Zealand - $5 for first item, then $1 per item for additional CDs
