I picked this up used yesterday at a store near my house and last night gave it a good listen... From the opening chords I was mesmerized by the quality of this recording and Danko's musicianship. Honestly, I don't think I own a redbook cd that sounds any better than this. It really sounded more like a hi-res offering. Depth and detail all over the place. Danko's voice and guitar filled my living room. My wife was in another room and walked in because she thought I was playing guitar better than I ever had before. When she heard that it was coming from the stereo she sat down next to me and we both just melted into the music for awhile. I love when I find something unexpected that just blows me away and this definitely did. No further analysis needed. If you're a fan of The Band and Danko, get this immediately. There's not a dud on the recording. When you hear him cover "Stage Fright", "The Weight" or "Mystery Train" WOW!
This is another great release from Bear Records. They have also recently released another concert recording of Danko's,"Live at O'Toole's Tavern",with the addition of (the late) Richard Manuel (from THE BAND) in a duo setting. As I wrote in that review, the music, while different in approach, could sit alongside the latest releases by Levon Helm. Certainly listeners who still feel THE BAND to be worthwhile will also take to this. This is real music, unpretentious music, performed by someone authentic. And that combination, especially with the present state of music,is hard to beat.
I am selling about 500 American copies of CDs. All are new. These come from a warehouse clearance. Some are promotional copies; others are standard retail copies. Starting price is just 10 cents a CD.
This will be my final sale season (and will probably run till April - May) as I am finding it too hard to source more stuff at a reasonable price.
Many are rare / obscure
/ never released in Australia.
Some come with different artwork; check the format description. Note that some have been in storage uncased for up to 20 years so may have small surface marking; where they do I have checked that they play perfectly.
All are sold without
plastic cases unless specifically stated as this reduces your postage cost, though some are in digipacks if that was how they were released. I can supply plastic cases but these are $1 extra to cover cost of the case plus extra postage.
Postage is $2 each for first and second item, then $1 per item for additional CDs over 2. For bigger orders I can ship up to 500 grams (10 regular CDs) for $7.
International buyers add $6 to the
total. Because countries vary, if it costs less I'll refund the difference. For example up to 250 grams (3 CDs without cases) to the USA, Canada or UK is $7.
New Zealand - $5 for first item, then $1 per item for additional CDs
