Life expectancy: 50,000 hours or 22 years if used for 6 hours per day.
Application: Household, restaurant, hotel, office and show room lighting and many others.
Important: All electrical installations including LED Transformer installations must be carried out by a Qualified Electrician to ensure safety and correct installation methods.
Q: I want to replace these with my existing halogen downlight, do i need a different transformer?
A: Professional LED driver transformers are the best solution to you. Because the power range of ordinary electronic transformers usually about 20-60W, it's not only too large but also unstable for LED bulbs. At the beginning, it may cause the LED lights to flicker rapidly, or the light may be able to start but will be overloaded after long-term use, you will notice more serious compatibility issues such as sizzling and interferences to your TV or Radio signal. The high power overload will cause the LED lights to last much shorter than its expected liftspan after long term use, it could cause damage not only to the LED lights and electronic transformers, but also causing a dangerous fire. As far as we know that a good electrician would only connect your LED globe to an compatible transformer to ensure stability and safety.
When you are considering changing your existing halogen downlight to MR16 LED globes, we strongly suggest you to check what type of transformers you have, currently there are 3 main kinds of transformers used for MR16 in the market.
1) Iron core transformers. This is an old type halogen transformer, which can be found in some old buildings. Tests show that our MR16 globes are compatible with 95% iron core transformers. We suggest you to try our a sample pack of our globes and see if it work, if it works, come back and buy more, if it doesn't work, you can either return them to us for a full refund (at your expense) or consider buying the led transformers.
2) Electronic transformers. Most recent built houses are commonly using halogen lights with electronic transformers, usually its output varies from 20W to 60W. However, our MR16 globes are only 9W, 12W or 15W, which is much lower than the minimum output (20W) of the electronic transformers. In this case, the LED globes could be damaged very quickly due to the overloading, upon installation you should start to notice some serious compatibility issues. We suggest you to buy the globes and replace the old transformers with led transformers. Alternatively, you can get a 'retrofit' MR16 which is a special designed led globe which is compatibel with the old eletronic transformers. Third alternative is to get your electrician to change them to GU10, you will need to buy the GU10 socket and some LED GU10 globes.
3) LED transformers. Professional LED transformer is the best option for LED MR16 globes, it works perfectly with our MR16 globes and helps you save electricity bills.
Q: Are these LED lights suitable to replace my halogen lamp?
A: Yes they are designed to replace most existing halogen lamp in terms of size. However, some overseas fittings are fixed to suit 50mm in height, which is not suitable for our led globes. For any measurement issues, please contact us before making your purchase.
Q: What kind of dimmer should i use for LED mr16 globes?
A: Our MR16 globes suit most leading edge dimmers better compared to trailing edge dimmers. Besides, universal dimmers are also an option for you, but they are not C-bus compatiable. By the way, when using a dimmer with the MR16 globes, the more globes you connect to one dimmer, the better it dims.
Q: I have bought other led lights and found that they are not good/ bright enough, how should i choose the right one?
A: We understand there are many LED lights listed on the market, with overstated brightness. When it comes to making a decision, most of the customer would choose either one of our 12W or 15W LED MR16 to replace their 50w halogen MR16. In terms of the brightness, they are the closest to 50W halogen. If you are after a better solution, you can consider our COB (Chip on board) ceiling downlight kits (which is the latest LED technology, available in 8W, 13W, 18W and 22W). These are a complete downlight kit including a SAA approved transformer, adjustable gimbal, wiring and the light source. They are the latest technology and they are much brighter with a wider beam angle, which is 110 degree, which spreads evenly across your lovely home. In general, they are 50% more efficient then the old technology.
Q: What is the difference between the actual power conusmption and the marked power consumption?
Usually the so-called power consumption is just a parameter like lumen, which is used to compare with the original lamps. In the comparison, we use a LED lamp of 6W to replace a traditional halogen lamp of 35-40W, a LED lamp of 8W to replace a traditional halogen lamp of 45-50W etc. The most important parameter is lumen. Under the same power and lumen, the less power it consumes, the better quality the lamp is. This is because power consumption determines the heat produced by LED. High heat producing will influence lamp's lifetime. Our goal is to achieve higher lumen output (brightness), less power consumption and longer lifespan.
If you haven't used our products, we recommend you buy 1-2 to try and compare with halogen or other led lights.
