Works perfect, the only thing to be VERY cautious about is placing the CPU in its socket. We have found the the follow works well. 1. remove the protective cover and open the processor binding clamp. 2. determine the orientation of the CPU so it can be installed property. 3. use a piece of double back tap on your index finger to hold the CPU, carefully place the CPU in the socket STRAIGHT DOWN (no rocking motion or twisting motion). 4. Using your other hand press the CPU in place and remove the double back tape. 5. Close the binding clamp securely, be sure it's locked in place. 6. install heat syncs and fan. The pins that make contact with the CPU underside are EXTREMELY FRAGILE and your mother board guarantee is void if you bend the, so be Very, Very Careful.

I purchased this processor for my son's computer. He was running an I3 2130 previously. I bought some new thermal compound from best buy and went got to work. We removed and cleaned up the old processor and just dropped the I7 3770s in. Applied new thermal paste, and put the original I3 fan and heat sink on it. It powered up first time and after Windows 10 got done installing the appropriate drives to support the I7's 8 virtual cores (4 real cores) I checked the thermals with and without load and it was running nice and cool. The I7 has been running for about 2 weeks now and is still performing perfectly. This was a great experience and a nice cheap upgrade with a lot of bang for the buck. If you can spare the money for the upgrade and your bios/motherboard will support this processor, I highly recommend the I7 3770.Read full review

I upgraded my Dell Optiplex 7010 from an i5-3470 to an i7-3770s. The upgrade met my expectations, which were as follows: 1) Small, barely noticeable speed increase. If you want to speed up your PC, replace an HDD with an SDD. 2) Major increase in video performance! 3) Reduction in heat. It's not like the 77 watt i5-3470 was causing the lights in my neighborhood to go dim, but I'm a big fan of cooler-running PC's. I like my motherboards to last a long time! The "-S" version of these CPU's is a MUST for USFF (Ultra Small Form Factor) PC's with smaller power supplies. When buying, look for 99% - 100% feedback seller. Look at photos of CPU, beware of dark-looking pads (possibly burnt) on bottom of package.

Replaced a Core i3-3225 with this Core i7-3770S (limited by TPD of system) and the performance improved dramatically. This despite this i3 having a slightly faster clock speed than this i7. So, I would recommend this as an upgrade option to anyone - provided your system and BIOS support the CPU of course.
