Place Value Activity Cards

This colourful collection of 32 open-ended place value activity cards is designed to be used with Place Value Rockets (© Christy Pohlner 2007 - see my other listings) or with MAB; more advanced learners may not need the manipulatives and would be able to complete the activities with just pencil and paper.  These tasks focus on numbers to the hundreds place, but larger/smaller numbers can be substituted for you if you wish - please contact before bidding to arrange.  This is a resource that can be used over and over throughout the year as children's understandings grow and develop!

General instructions for use are included, along with some more detailed handy ideas for how to use the cards.  They cater for a wide range in ability so will suit the different levels found in every classroom.  These cards are suitable for individual instruction, pairs, small groups or whole group use.  Refer to photo for an example of the range of questions used.  Skills focus on place value and number (addition and subtraction used in terms of so much more/less than a given number).

General instructions:

Children draw a task card and either using the Place Value Rocket cards set or MAB, construct a number based on the given information.  All cards are somewhat open-ended – many answers can be correct, allowing children to work at their own developmental level.  Children should record their answers in written form – represented as a number (eg 648) and in expanded form (eg 6 hundreds, 4 tens,  8 ones/units) to reinforce the links between them.  Discussion and comparison of possible answers, or the answers a group of children have made, should also be encouraged.

Please Note:

All cards are numbered from 1-32 (black numbers in top left hand corner) to enable easy checking that all cards have been returned, tracking of task cards completed, and to identify cards easily for replacement if required (I am happy to provide replacement cards upon request for a price agreed upon at time of contact).

This is a great resource for maths groups/rotations or for whole class discussion/challenges (eg number of the day).  Also great for extension, homework challenges, or fast finishers - as well as a quick and easy time filler for those spare moments (if we still have any these days?!).

The set has 32 unique cards (not all pictured here!), measuring approx 10cm x 3cm.

Grab a bargain – this is GREAT VALUE and GOOD FUN TOO!

Also look out for the other great place value resources I have listed:

  • Place Value Rockets

  • Place Value Dominoes

  • Place Value I Have-Who Has game

  • Place Value Actions - great for kinaesthetic learners!

  • Tens Tiger place value/addition game and chant

All now available in my eBay shop!

**All items are printed onto quality card (not paper) and laminated for durability.

Item will be posted in a standard DL envelope, with extra cardboard to provide rigidity; postage and handling to anywhere in Australia will be $2.15 (please see postage policy below for an explanation of what this cost includes; happy to discuss options to keep costs to you down to a minimum).  If you would prefer to have the item padded and sent in a postpak I am more than happy to do this, but cost will be increased.  Happy to combine postage for multiple items - see below for more information on my postage policy.  International buyers please contact me for a postage estimate prior to purchase.

Looking for other teaching resources? Check out my Ebay store! Lots to choose from, and if you don't see what you are after there - just contact me and I'll see what I can do for you!  Happy to make to order.

Looking for a Bulk Pack Bargain?

I am happy to provide a discount for bulk purchase.  Contact me with a list of the items you would like and I will be happy to provide you with a quote – this must be done before buying/bidding.  I don't sell a standard 'bulk pack' as I prefer customers to choose their own items - then we both know you are getting the best deal on the items you want!

Payment policy

I am pleased to accept bank deposit, bank deposit express, and money orders/bank cheques as standard payment methods; PayPal is also now available.  Payment is appreciated within 5 days of purchase; however if you are waiting for other auctions to finish in order to combine postage just email me - I am happy to wait as long as you have made contact to let me know.

Postage information

I try to keep postage and packaging costs to a minimum – I don’t believe in using postage costs to prop up my item prices and boost profits!  I am always happy to combine postage for multiple items, and will search out the best postage option for you.  Most times, postage costs quoted when I combine your invoice are as accurate as I can make them.  I generally provide a couple of options when items will weigh over 500g – it is often cheaper to send in 2 separate packets than go for 1 large one that is heavy and I am happy to take the extra time to do this for you.  I weigh items at home before posting so that if I have overcharged I can refund the difference when I post your item.  Even with this precaution, on occasion the items post more cheaply – by then it is too late for me to provide a cash refund, and if the amount is over $1 I will contact you to provide a ‘credit’ on your next purchase.  I charge a small packaging fee (about $0.50) on top of postage, which covers the cost of consumables (envelopes/sticky tape/baggies/etc).  Due to recent changes, a small handling charge has also been introduced – please contact me if you would like to discuss ways of minimising these costs.  All items are posted promptly, usually by the next business day after your payment clears.

Return policy

I try very hard to be as accurate as possible in my descriptions – if you are unsure about anything, please contact me! If you believe that an item you have purchased is not as described or if there are any problems, please contact me to discuss so that we can come to a solution.

Contact information

I love to hear from customers and potential customers! If you need more information before making a purchase, please feel free to contact me through eBay Messages at any time. I always try to respond within 24 hours. I also appreciate hearing about how you are using my resources in your classroom!
