* * * * *        LIPSTICK" STYLE NOVELTY FLASHLIGHTS       * * * * *

Old / Antique / Vintage / 1940's ?

New / Never used

This auction is for Four ( 4 ) "Lipstick" Style Novelty Flashlights

* Flashlight was manufactured to resemble a lipstick holder

* Made of cardboard

Includes:

- Original "Lipstick" holder

- Original AA size battery

- Original flashlight bulb & spring

- Four bonus springs and flashlight bulbs

* Measures: 3" x 11/16"

* Colors: dark blue & light blue

We have tried replacing the bulbs and batteries but cannot get any of these flashlights to turn on, but did consult with an Expert of Flashlights.  He said the contacts need to be cleaned and worked on a little and that they can work again, he was able to get his going with a little work :)

Here are the directions on how to get them to turn on :

First and most important is you have to check to see if the spring and bulb are ralatively clean of rust,if not ,you can remove the spring by  holding the bulb in your left hand and turn spring clockwise and pull spring off of bulb, taking care not distort spring ( do not turn conterclockwise it's hard to come off that way)After this is done, clean and reasemble by turning spring on bulb clockwise until it stops.NEXT-This is most important,If you look at the bottom side of spring, the tail of the spring curl's in,( this is what is causing your lights not to work),it needs to be bent out until it lines up with the ring above it and doesn't turn in. The reason being is because it has to hug the inner  wall of the battery tube.( The BatteryTube is the one that hold the battery and sping and light).Next, you have to get a AA battery and peel off the label making sure you remove all of the label and on both ends too,making sure its clean,clean,very important! Note: If you try to scrape off label it leaves some of the glue witch stops the battery from sliding inside the tube and it is important that the battery does move freely inside of tube.Next: the reason the battery has to be clean, if you look at the positive end of battery, the button,inner plate and side of battery all touch each other making all of this positive and on the negative side it has a divider between the flat botton and outer wall of battery, making this the negative side only.Next you install  positive side of battery into the battery tube FIRST,with button sticking out of big hole.NEXT-Install spring and light bulb,making sure that outer ring of spring is hugging the wall of tube and touching (IMPORTANT) the outer ring of the battery only and the bulb is in the center of tube now slip on the top tube and aleign that bulb to the hole and bring together both tubes. By pressing the buttom (positive) on the bottom  the spring will compress and the center of bulb comes in contact with battery making a circuit to light the bulb. If battery doesn't slide  in tube push in on one side, than the other to free up .I think that what was happening for you was the spring  when inside of tube was crossing over an touching center of battery grounding it out. If you look at all of your springs you will see that all of the tails curl in. They would all have to be aligned will the circle abve them to work in  these flashlights and spring and bulb free of corrosion and battery free of label and clean at both ends an all should work

Each Flash Light has one AA Battery made by Summit, Made in the U.S.A.
