I have had this traditional style loom for a year and a half and have used it with great pleasure; the last two photos show some shawls that I have woven and there are several post on my blog (http://gangewifre.blogspot.com.au/) about the loom and how I have used it.
This four shaft counterbalance loom was made at the Sturt Craft School in the Wood Workshops in the 1950s. All the cords, heddles and aprons have been replaced and are in good condition. I can provide documentation and advice on how to tie up and adjust a CB loom. The details of the loom are;
Heddles: approx 180 per shaft
Reed: .94 m; 15 dents per inch - rusty, will need attention before using ( see http://gangewifre.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/rusty-reed.html for suggestions )
Breast beam height: 0.84 m
Overall height: 1.65 m
Depth 0.98 m
Width: 1.3 m
Weaving width 0.91 m (3 feet)
The loom unbolts and fits comfortably into a station wagon - the biggest pieces are the side frames which are 1.46 x .98; look at the second photo to get an idea of the shape
