This book is written by Lloyd Rees with Renee Free and is called An Artist Remembers.

The book is a large, heavy hardcover published by Craftsman House in 1987 and has 160 pages.

The book is in very good condition with fine scratches to the dust jacket and a little foxing to the underside of the jacket, at the left edge, as shown in the photo.   The spine of the dust jacket has faded to a light green.

In this wonderful and very personal book Lloyd Rees looks back over his own work and selects paintings which he feels are distinctive milestones in his long career as an artist.  Assisted by notable art historian Renee Free, Lloyd Rees takes us on a journey through the many impressions which have shaped his life and vision.

The early works featured here include Old Boats, Wollstonecraft Bay (c. 1920) and Balmoral (c. 1927) followed by several paintings from the late 1930s, such as Autumn, Lane Cove River (c. 1937) and The Back Porch (c. 1940).  The book includes various works inspired by the NSW south coast, Italy and Sicily, and a substantial section on works painted during the last thirty years.  Includes 60 full page glorious colour plates of the featured paintings.

Lloyd Rees notes in his introduction that "the aim of this book is to give a wide coverage of my painted work, with an emphasis upon the very recent exhibition and figure works which have never been published."

This is the quintessential book on a much-loved and admired artist.
