Asus is the leading brand for motherboards for extreme overclocking and this board proves just that. Love it!!

Refurbished motherboard. Good cosmetic condition. Performs well, except that the BIOS cannot retain information and the motherboard cannot detect CPU fan speed. The battery is not in cause. Defective BIOS chip? I don't know. Too expensive. In 2012 I got a new one for 200$ CAD on Newegg. This one cost me around 230$ CAD, but it is a 6 year old motherboard. Knowing that PC components loose around 10%~25% of their value per year, the price should be around 120$ CAD.

I bought this motherboard to replace a Intel DZ77GA-70K. That board was not meeting my needs. I saw this board and noticed it was mfg refurbished and had original accessories except for manual and dvd. This motherboard is loaded with features. It's heavy and large compared to other Z77 based motherboards, but wow!!!! This has to be the best Z77 based motherboard there is. It worked right out of the box, did some minor adjustments in the BIOS and used the Asus extreme Tweaker functionality. The board overclocked without a hitch. Now to enjoy the speed. ****Five years later still have this board and the original core i5 3570k installed. This is my goto back up computer.****

If you've ever been looking for a smaller 1155 board that decimates even $150-range ATX boards in terms of features, this is the one to get. On-board power and reset switches, support for Crossfire and SLI, an M.2 port, the excessive amount of rear i/o USB ports, built-in DisplayPort out, and many more benefits are what make this thing great. My only complaints are that they didn't include built-in VGA or DVI out from the rear i/o. Two of my three displays require either of those two and I had to wait a good deal of time for my graphics card to arrive in order to use them again. If you don't have a discrete GPU, keep this in mind.
I know the Maximus V is considered old now that there are a few new gen chip-sets now, but I was upgrading from an ASUS PH867- I Pro and an Intel i3 2120. Now I have this Maximux V Gene, and Intel i5 3570k @ 4.6ghz. WOW. This isn't impressive compared to the newest tech, but only a few years ago, this was smokin' fast.. And still is. Paired with a mid grade GPU, this system will run most all games maxed at 1080p. At the price I put this system together for, I very much regret buying a PlayStation 4, two months ago. The seller had the MOBO securely packed, with anti static bag. The system posted right up, first attempt. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Will gladly buy from the seller again if our paths happen to cross.
