“ORCA” is a 35' cruising yacht, designed by Joe Adams, professionally built in galvanised steel & fitted with quality SS fittings. It has NSW & Australian registration, it comes with the Australian registered “prime” marine name of “ORCA”(very hard to come by).
This Adams design has a Cruising Fin Keel, this is a little longer and a little shallower than the deep fin keel variant. It allows the vessel to sit with about a 1.55m draft giving access into shallower waters. The steelwork was carefully balanced to give a strong but light vessel, weighing 6.4 ton. The Hull plates - 3.2mm (1/8”), decks - 2.5mm (3/16”) and cockpit - 2mm, keel plating - 5mm.
Orca was completely stripped of fittings outside and inside, then restored & maintained carefully in the 8 years we owned it, Orca is ready to sail to your chosen destination. It is not a project. Orca is a “Dry Boat”.
Orca is a masthead sloop with a cutter rig, has a furling headsail, the standing rig was renewed with quality SS wire & NZ SS fittings. The running deck gear has been set up for expansion with spare deck organiser slots & cam positions. 2 Speed self-tailing winches in the cockpit. Lazy jacks.
The primary steering system is all quality Edson gear. It has a Fleming SS wind vane steering system. This rudder works well, with smooth easy steering.
The vessel was totally rewired & electrically upgraded. Most lights are LED or Fluoro. Large Solarex solar panel, a 12v alternator supplies a good output. A wind generator is not installed, but is available. 3 hefty maintenance free sealed LA batteries. The charge regulator is a self regulating MPPT design. New GME VHF transceiver (DSC capable), Sony DVD MP3 player that has a USB port, New GME 406 EPIRB with GPS, Navman Colour Sounder. VDO fuel & voltage gauges.
Orca's has a smooth running 4 cylinder 30Hp marine diesel Nanni, freshwater cooled. It starts first go and provides plenty of economical propulsion. Hurth gearbox & a flexible coupling (to reduce stress to the drive train). It has all been set up for dependability.
Orca has two pack primers/undercoats below the waterline, cockpit floor, transom & in the bilges. The deck surfaces, are also coated with a tough non slip rubberised coating. The foredeck has deck-tread sheeting, this is so the chain &/or anchor can be brought up without chipping the paintwork.
The windows, hatches and vents are all extra strong for offshore use. The side windows were replaced with Lexan. The cockpit is large and comfortable. The interior of the vessel has a teak fit out & has plenty of storage space for extended cruising.
There's plenty of essential gear with the vessel; anchors, chain, rope, SS BBQ, 12v fridge/freezer, GPS unit, Flare Pack (current), Compass, Fenders, Gaff, Brass Barometer & Ships Clock, Cruising spares, binoculars, Dinghy with outboard & oars, wind speed instrument, user manuals, Sails, etc.
“Orca” has been priced to sell at $39,000 AUD firm. As we do not live in Sydney we have chosen to sell Orca at a price that will be attractive & will move quickly, we do not want to be driving 800km return trips to show off the boat without results. It is a Private sale. We believe it is worth much more than this. The 39K price is not negotiable, so everyone knows where the price stands & can make their own value & interest assessment, based on that figure. I can be contacted on 0403782631.
