After a year or two playing with my friends Age of Empires II online, I decided to give this new one a try. Clearly it was the best decition I could have taken. Graphics are the best, houses collapse and turn into fire, characters have real movements not like those in AOE II that moved like robots and I can outline a hundred more if I wanted to but that'll make my review boring hehe. As regards the cons, the only issue I've found is that commands and camera views are quite different from those of AOE II but nothing that good gamer can't handle. All in all, it's worth the purchase! At least for me.
GREAT RTS AGE OF EMPIRES GAMES ARE INSANLY ADDICTING AND CHALLENGING AMAZING!!! Age of Empires III (AOE III) is a real-time strategy (RTS) game developed by Microsoft Corporation's Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Released on October 18, 2005 in North America and November 4, 2005 in Europe, it is the third game of the Age of Empires series and the sequel to Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. The game portrays the European colonization of the Americas, between approximately 1492 and 1850 AD (expanded in Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs to 1876). Eight European civilizations are playable. Age of Empires III has made several innovations in the series, in particular with the addition of the "Home City", which combines real-time strategy and role-playing game features. Two expansion packs have been released: the first, Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs, was released on October 17, 2006, and introduced three Native American civilizations; the second, Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties, was released on October 23, 2007, and included three Asian civilizations.Read full review
Age of Empires III gives players the opportunity to pick up where Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings left off, placing them in the time period of roughly 1500-1850. As players work to establish their empire, they will take on the role of a European power struggling to explore, colonize and conquer North and South America. In addition, players will also have the chance to engage in epic warfare in the Americas with Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs, where they will lead proud, playable native civilizations to expand their empire and fight for control of the Americas.
This game is definitely totally different from any Age of Empires you have played before. With so much more depth and finally focus on a strong multiplayer online community - it is a much different feel than anything else you played. With actually having Clan tabs, a personalized Deck, your own City, and so much more focus upon building up your strategy and personal civilization - the game has finally ditched it's old ranking system and unfair playing field. I strongly recommend trying this game out so you can see what I'm talking about. If you've played any "Age of" game before, expect a different feel - but definitely know that you'll be in for a treat!
As someone who played AOE I and II, i awaited AOE III with anticipation. the Microsoft franchise has built quite a following over the years, especially among players of middle age strategy. AOE III clearly delivers in terms of graphics, game engine and battle dynamics. The graphics are crisp and full of lots of small details which enhance the game, like cannon action realistic sounds and damage graphics. The storyline also promises hours and hours of fun. Highly recommended if you enjoyed the previous installments.
