This is a circa 1950s ruby red rhinstone necklace. It consists of a single row of prong set round chaton rhinestones with a fold over clasp. It has a large drop at the front with a waterfall of red baquette, marquis and chaton rhinestones. This is a designer piece, signed 'La Rel'.
Please note: Colours differ on different monitors so it is not possible to rely on the photographs you see for exact colours.
"Circa" means "around" and refers to a time range, usually ten years on either side of a date. I estimate the vintage of my items using my own knowledge of costume jewellery and references such as costume jewellery books and internet research.
The necklace is 38 cm long. The drop is around 8 cm.
Please note: please read measurements carefully to be sure that the item is suitable. Vintage necklaces and bracelets were made to suit smaller women than today's jewellery. Please remember that the items may appear larger in the photographs than they actually are. The photographs are enlarged so you can see details. All measurements are approximate and are not exact.
Rhinestone. Gold tone metal.
Please note: My pictures are enlarged and generally show flaws such as scratches to be far worse than they appear to the naked eye. I attempt to describe all flaws in my descriptions. This generally makes the item sound in worse condition than it actually is, but I like to err on the side of caution.

About vintage jewellery
All my vintage items are at least 25 years old. Because the jewellery I sell is old, it may show signs of wear. If you wish to buy perfect, mint condition jewellery then I do not recommend buying vintage items.
I do not recommend vintage costume jewellery for everyday wear. I suggest wearing these pieces for special occasions. Older pieces may be fragile and should be worn with respect and care.
I do not recommend cleaning vintage jewellery. Only professional cleaning is recommended for the pieces in my store.
