The Yamaha 2020 Receiver is a powerful audiophile tool. Not only does it deliver power to several channels simultaneously, it flawlessly handles the delicate highs and upper mid range notes and melodies. It is true what has been said, "they don't make um like they used to!" If you are lucky enough to find this receiver for under $600, I highly recommend it's purchase. Like all aged electronics, make certain you purchase your reciever from a professional who has properly serviced it. One can find several high end receivers today, each one encased in the best plastic money can buy. To reach the level of performance achieved by this 2020, be prepared to shell out over $1,000 for a Marantz unit. For the money, nothing can match the sound quality and outright audiophile muscle of the Yamaha CR2020.Read full review

I started with a CR-620 in 1978. Next I upgraded to a CR1020, then this CR2020. At this point, I have four amps hooked up in my three story house, to the internet. The 620 has been relegated back to its box. Instead of moving on to the rare CR3020, I have gone to a Pioneer SX1280 (more available, better price, better specs.), and a Cerwin Vega CV 1800 (to push a pair of Cerwin Vega XLS-215 speakers. The 2020 pushes vintage speakers of better than 100 watts with ease and good sound quality. It fits my needs where it is located, and will no doubt outlast me. I gave it an excellent rating for its price range.

From "The Vintage Knob:" Hopelessly classy. Bigger sibling to the CR-1020 bestseller and bestseller itself, the 2020 nevertheless was the small sibling of the CR-3020. The latter didn't sell so well so the CR-2020 can be seen as the right combination of high, wide, good & beautiful without being overdone. Added from the CR-1020 are a an IC-based MC stage, 2-step turnover tone controls, 2-step FM muting, a 4-gang volume attenuator, three more discrete LEDs for FM Blend / Tone / Muting functions and more power with just as little distortion. I won't bother with technical descriptions here : the CR-2020 is part of those few components one can buy eyes closed and which, just by looking at it (eyes opened), brings its period back, intact and unharmed by time - colors and flared trousers included.Read full review

Anywhere you look, you see only positive things about the cr-2020! Sounds excellent, simple enough to use, but still enough technicals for you to play with! Beautiful, clean, classic look--good balance to vintage and modern.
