These are a bit slimmer than the original B+W, but since they still have the front filter thread, they protrude about the same.. I wish they would make a version without. I have a rather small camera (Leica M3) with a very small lens (50mm Summarit-M) kept under my coat when it's raining, so I like the smallest profile possible. My solution was to grind the front threads down on this filter, which was quite easy as it's made from brass. I used a whetstone for sharpening knives, took about 20 minutes. Now the kit is around ~6.5 cm thick, about a centimeter less than a Canon 5D body without lens.. My recommendation if you want a slim filter: buy a cheap Hoya MC and grind it down, because this one is not slim enough anyways.
