The tree in the centre of the Boker logo commemorates the chestnut tree that shaded the Boker factory from the time it was founded in the late 17th century until 1925 when it was struck by lightning. Although the tree is gone its image has survived for the past 100 years as the 'tree brand logo', a fitting symbol of Bokers quality workmanship. Arbolito, which also appears on the logo is Spanish for "little tree" as it is the recognised trade name of Boker knives in Central and South America. Baumworke means "Treeworks" in German and Tree Brand is the recognised Boker trade name in the US. Those who value fine cutlery may have heard of Solingen Steel - the highest quality cutlery steel available any where in the world. This prized steel was actually named for the city of Solingen, Germany, home of Boker tree Brand knives. The Boker name is a part of this rich, more than a century old, legacy of fine cutlery.
