This memory works as expected; my issue is with the apparently decorative heatsinks. These two pieces of stamped steel are merely held onto the printed circuit boards with double-sided foam tape. The tape adheres well to the "heatsink" but not to the tops of the memory IC's on the cards. As a result the "heatsinks" (at least they have the appearance of being that) can easily become separated from the board the first time one attempts to remove the memory cards by pulling on the heatsink (as is the intended use). It's questionable as to whether these actually are heatsinks -- or if the double-sided foam tape is actually behaving as an insulator -- preventing the IC's from cooling -- with the heat sink shell serving only to block airflow and trap additional heat around the needlessly thermally insulated integrated circuits. I'm a degree electronics engineer -- and it certainly appears that way to me. Regardless, once that tape breaks free there's no fix. Throw the shells away or take the hassle of sending them in for warranty to start the process over. I contacted Corsair about this and the representative acted as if he had never heard this complaint. I checked customer reviews at Newegg. There were only half dozen reviews there and more than one customer had mentioned the same problem. The expensive fan to cool the memory at best serves to compensate for the poorly designed heatsinking -- adding unnecessary noise while cooling the integrated circuits only a couple of degrees. Others have also commented about this on Newegg. Probably could forgo the fan if the memory modules had proper heatsinking. In addition, the most likely application for this fan would be for additional needed cooling in a gaming system. Gaming systems, however, typically use the first PCI Express slot for the GPU. With a full-length card in the first PCI Express slot the fan cannot be attached to the clips which hold the memory cards because there is not enough clearance between these clips and the GPU (at least on my Asus Z87M-PLUS and Z97 Gryphon motherboards there isn't). All in all a very disappointing investment in spite of the memory working just fine. If it's bling that you're looking for - this is fairly nice looking hardware. If it is sound engineering and durability that you're looking for I would pass on this arrangement. Certainly there's a better solution available than this. Read full review

Performs and easy to install as stated. Major improvements since I installed it.

I originally read it was better for intel than AMD, but with my AMD FX 9590 cpu, it works extremely well. I feel it's a bit more than what I really need, it does put off heat and takes up a good bit of power, and as a DDR3, it can't really reach 2400 speed without overclocking the CPU.

Awesome, rocking and rolling on my new board, no issues.
