Note Part Time 4WD 80 series have free wheeling hubs and there is room for the longer spline of the later model CV. Even if you have an early Part Time 4WD 80 then you can use the later model CV. The CV comes with a 12 month no questions asked free replacement warranty should you manage to break one. Just send back with proof of purchase and I send another to you for free.    


This CV is a direct replacement of the factory CV Joint. It comes with a new retaining snap ring and a tube of CV grease.

This is totally complete and you dont need anything else to make this CV complete. It is brand new - never been fitted.


I have mutiples listed so if you need to purchase 2 then you can simply nominate 2 in the quantity field when you purchase these. I only charge an additional $5 postage for the second CV joint. That is set up to be automatically calculated by ebay. If you purchase additional items like Free Wheeling Hubs, bearings or seal kits then I shall see that that and adjust the combined freight accordingly so you get very cheap postage rates. No need to ask - I just do it as soon as I see it.

If your CV is on its way out it will make a clicking noise when you turn and are in 4WD. This is when the joint is loaded with pressure. When you hear this clicking you know that your CV is close to breaking and it's now only a matter of time.

When a CV breaks you lose drive to that wheel.

  • If it is a clean break in the shaft it can be very hard to tell as it will make no noise and no vibration. The power for the front drive will spin the axle in the diff housing. You might not realsie it for a while and you are wondering why you cant get up stuff. A bystander should see that neither of your front wheels are turning when you are bogged. If you have a diff lock and it is engaged then the wheel wont spin or drive. To see for sure - jack up one front wheel and see if it rotates freely. If you have a diff lock engaged then it should not spin freely while the other wheel stays still - tells us that either the diff lock is not working or that you have a broken axle or CV. If you dont have a diff lock in the front then the wheel should be able to spin but the front drive shaft should also be spinning too - if not then you have a broken CV shaft or axle. If you have a cklean break in the shaft then disengage the hubs and the 4WD transfer case gear stick and drive home in 2WD. It should sit still in 2WD and can be fixed at home.
  • If it is not a clean break it can be quite obvious. The cluster / race can break and parts go everywhere. It can jam things up and prevent the wheel from turning. This in turn can snap what was a good axle or burst out the spindle that the bearings sit on and in turn destroy the bearings. Maybe the wheel will fall off and you tend to know by then that something is up. If you break a CV while out in the bush and it was a shattering mess you should not try to drive home like that. Not only will the mess get worse but it might prevent the steering motion and you could miss a corner. You should take it all apart and remove the CV joint and shaft and put it back together without the CV to drive home.
