1996 Callaway Big Bertha irons, aka "consistent beauties" are a welcomed back commodity in the bag. Gave away my old set to my son because I replaced them with a new Adams set of hybrids. That was a bad idea thinking that I would play better with newer technology. I missed looking down and seeing the oh so familiar muscle back look of metal. The over-sized faces are easier to hit than my Adams hybrids. The regular graphite shafts feel a lot smoother than newer graphite material and fit my slower swing to perfection. I'm very lucky I could find a full set in such great condition and would recommend them to any older golfer.
i picked up two wedges in this auction; a Titleist DCI 56 degree sand wedge and a Callaway Big Bertha sand wedge. Obviously both have their abilities, which are different. The DCI is a more balanced weight so you dont feel the club pulling on you like the BB does, but the heavy bottom of the BB allows you to slice through the sand a lil easier. the BB has a bigger head than the DCI which i do like, but all in all i prefer the DCI because of its balanced weight. these and a Titleist Vokey are the only three sand wedges ive played and i enjoy playing my DCI the most. i give the DCI 9.5/10 and the BB 7.5/10 based on my preference.
I had a set of these clubs years ago but sold them for something newer and shinier. Bad move. The 1996 model Big Bertha irons are large enough and heavy enough to give me the confidence I need. I hit them longer and straighter than anything else I have owned. The set I bought were very reasonably priced and with some new grips and a good cleaning, I am now in love with them. Thanks

Well to start this is the first set of Calloway clubs I have ever owned. So you can imagine how happy I was to win this auction. The process was very simple and effortless to pay. I received the clubs a week after I won them and have tried all of them in actual play and they play great. Very clean and lightly used clubs they are almost like new. I am very happy with my purchase and have recently become more of an ebay junky than I would have ever imagined. It's just too easy to buy off ebay and get your product delivered to your house. I really enjoy the bidding process because of my competitive spirit and I hate to lose so you can only imagine how determined I am to win an auction. Anyway I am very happy with my purchase and so far I have no issues paying or receiving my product. The only thing that really is hard is waiting on my purchases!!!Read full review
The updated version of the original 1994 Big Berthas has a larger head, and moves more weight to the perimeter of the clubhead. This translates into a larger sweet spot and more forgiveness on off-center hits. These are true game-improvement irons for those duffers out there, like me. If you have trouble hitting the ball straight, these are the irons for you. At ebay prices, these are one of the best bang-for-the-buck iron sets available. The clubs are slightly offset, which means that the shaft is slightly ahead of the clubface to help you get your hands through the ball first. This helps you square the clubface for a straighter on-target shot, and helps you pop the ball up faster. No more worm burners. Shots off the toe or heel still head in the right direction, thanks to the massive cavity and perimeter weighting in each clubhead. Another great thing about these clubs is that they won't lose much in value. Buy a set of these and learn the game. Once you get consistent or decide to try another set, sell these on ebay. You'll get about the same amount that you paid for them!!Read full review
