I bought the SX260 mainly for my trip to New York and Niagara Falls and I'm glad I did that for I found it to be convenient just tucked away in my trouser pocket without it being very bulky or heavy. I took a lot of pictures on std resolution and the quality was good. I then spent a bit of time editing them before storage and transferring them to my usb drive. However, I was concerned whether the battery could lasts it out and sure enough it didn't last as long as I had hoped it would with all my reviewing and editing. My mistake was in not carrying an extra battery and I did try to buy one in New York City in the Times Square area but found that it was too expensive there -was quoted $50-$56 for a new one. Tried to use the movie feature with a clip here and there but did not quite get used to it. Would have preferred to have a continuous movie feature made easier to adjust or changeover while on the go snapping away. While at the N Falls the powerful zoom came in very useful in the daytime but when night fell could not handle the multitude of colours and spot lights as well as all the neons in and around the area. All said, it is good point and shoot compact and very good value for money with loads of features which I'm still trying to get used too.Read full review
It is an old machine but it has everything necessary to be able to handle some photos manually and that is what motivated me to look for it and luckily I found it

For the everyday user Canon once again has put together a great Bang for your Buck camera. It has a a huge 20X optical zoom as well as the ability to capture 12.1MP so it is handy in all situations.
