Gardner Douglas 427 Euro RHD MK3 ~ Personal Import

Description: After less than two years owning this car, I have decided due to changes in work commitment and relocation I will take a huge blow and sacrifice my toys. As much as I love the car, and all the small ideas and changes I wanted to do I just do not have the time or the room and I just have to let the car go to someone that can enjoy it. In the past two years the car has been registered (April 2012) in Queensland I have only driven it and handful of times. Very sad

If you are a prospective buyer please send me an email with your phone number and I will endeavor to call as soon as possible and I will tell you all I know about the car.

So, that's the reason why this is for sale, now I’ll try to describe it as best I can.
It's made by Gardner Douglas in the UK, it's one of the top manufactures of replicas you will find. This car is truly unique in this country. To
my knowledge it is the only right hand drive in the country, it was completed early 2009 and has now just over 25,000 miles.
The car has a
n awesome chassis. It was designed purely for the track and it is rock solid. This car is the EURO option. This is not something you can build as a kit, the EURO is the flagship & is only available as a factory built rolling chassis. Fully independent, fully adjustable custom designed suspension. AP racing brakes on the front, Cosworth on the rear. Rear diff is a BTR Torque Sensing used in TVR's & Morgan's. It drives superb, very comfortable and stable. Correct 90" Wheelbase. 17" 3 piece split rims. The tires have tread like new, but have been on for a few years, so i bought some Yokahama's, I have replaced two and the other two will come with the car.

Check out the Gardner Douglas web page for more details:

It use to run a 383 SBC stroker motor and TKO 500 gearbox but the car was just not drivable on the road. It has since be replaced with a LS1 & T56 (6 speed) combination as this is the motor the car was originally design for and the car is very well balanced with this combination. Furthermore parts for this engine and gearbox are easily available in Australia and are bulletproof. If you like you can spend $1,000 on some new cam’s, air intake and get it dyno tuned and you will get maybe another 150hp. The standard LS1 has already 350hp and given the car is only around 800kg is more than enough.
The body is a semi-monocoque design. It looks excellent from a distance, but it's not show quality. There are imperfections, if you want a show car, it will need
a pro paint job. I am the 3rd owner of the car and was not concerned about it, I wanted a car to drive every day. Furthermore I actually love the love the slightly rough look as it gives the car character and some age, I have had many people ask me if it was an original Shelby Cobra.
Inside, classic leather bucket seats on adjustable bases with 5 point Willans harnesses (The anti sub belt is not installed). Leather door panels and black carpet. Smiths electronic gauges, Moto Lita 14" steering wheel.
It has a Mocal Oil cooler and the
rmostat however oil has never hot enough to use it and if anything the car seem to run too cold. Maybe if it is pushed hard it will need it, but i cruise mostly. LED bulbs and clear lenses all around, but I did keep the original colored lenses if you don't like them
The car starts and drives excellent, but it will need to be ran on a rolling road to get the set up perfect for track use.
I have receipts for $50K for just the chassis, body, engine and gearbox alone! This was a very expensive build. I know the economy has tanked and values have plummeted. I got a great deal on this car when I bought it and put about $4K into it myself. My aim is to not lose any money but I understand this is unlikely however I rather stored it at my parents place under a cover until I get time to enjoy it than to give it away, I think you would understand.

I also have some additional parts, like the double white pinstripe, steering column with blinkers stork, (if you prefer that) two catalytic converter, two additional exhaust mufflers (if you like the car to be more quiet), chrome valve covers and some other stuff

Please note, I have included one picture without the body so you may see the wonderful design and craftsmanship of the undercarriage but is show the original motor gearbox which is not included in the sale.

Now some more info around the things I wanted to do, all the door and hood hinges need to be removed and chromed, although the gauges are the Smith classic range the look a somewhat sad on the current dashpot I wanted to replace with an aluminum look.  The exhaust is partly SS and partly mild steel wanted to replace one elbow and the mild steel parts, the wire harness could be better hidden and the carper keeps moving around. To me all minor project but the car mechanical is in excellent condition as you would accept for a car of such pedigree and low kilometers.

Ps: Car can be inspected Brisbane Southside

Pss: I reserve the right to end this auction at any time due to other advertisement
