Sometimes babies can seem to cry, even though they are well cared for, warm, fed and changed. If your baby has repeated episodes of inconsolable crying but otherwise appears to be healthy, it’s quite likely they may have colic. Colic is a condition which causes babies to cry excessively and symptoms can include a red face, clenched fists or drawing knees up to their stomach. Colic is a very common condition in newborn babies and although it can be very distressing for you, it is not harmful and your baby will continue to feed and gain weight normally.

Some newborn babies find it difficult to digest the lactose in their milk, which can lead to discomfort after feeding and excessive crying, which may be a cause of colic. Colief® Infant Drops contain lactase enzyme, which when added to the baby's usual milk - breast milk or formula - will help to break down the lactose in the milk, making the feed more easily digestible and helping to reduce the hours of crying.
