MEND is the ambitious debut of Scottish indie trio De Rosa. Blending edgy art-rock with blissful folk-influenced pop, the band sets off atonal guitar assaults against a wistful melodicism that recalls fellow countrymen the Delgados. Vocalist Martin Henry's pleasing falsetto anchors the song's solid hooks and roaring pop energy. Straddling a precarious line between tuneful songwriting and nervy noise-rock bluster, MEND is an auspicious, thrill-a-minute introduction to a promising young band.
