For sale are a pair of Digital Equipment Corporation DEC VAX 11/750 s. Early 80s vintage. 6 cabinets including the VAX tape dive.
This stuff is getting rare and not many have been preserved with so much documentation. Its awsome to show all those Gen Y's what a real computer is and hear the amazement when you hand a 5 Meg hard drive the size of a rubbish bin lid around the room.
Please note the PDP11 is not included in this auction. Its just the VAX stuff - 6 cabinets - two VAX11/750s, an empty controller cabinet, hard drive, controller and 6 foot tape drive - in the pictures is for sale. And several boxes of stuff.
I've had this in storage for over 20 years. There are two CPU units (one was a spare for the system) a disc controller, tape drive, two 8 inch floppy drives,160MB hard drive, 3 platter drive bays for 5 mb hand held platters. There are a heap of manuals, field change orders, discs, a box of tapes and a few spare power supplies.
There are also some hard drive platters, reel to reel tapes and tape cartridges. There is lots of stuff.
Will include a terminal or two if you need them. There are VT100, VT101 and VT131 terminals.
This is tonnage of mainframe gear - its heavy - so this is pickup only. Unfortunately I need the space these have been taking up for so long. I saved them and want them to go to a good home with an enthusiast who will appreciate what's here. Its more than a trailer full.
This was stuff was working 20 years ago, but I've listed for parts only as things like tapes and rubber bits are bound to have deteriorated.
Not letting the PDP stuff go yet.
This is located in Blackburn Melbourne Australia. PICKUP ONLY.
Happy to answer any questions, but keen to free up the space so not wanting to split it up.

I've had quite a few requests to split this up and list a buy it now price.
Out of fairness to everyone who has asked questions and to those who have bid, I will let the auction run its course.
I've been pleased with the level of interest this has generated and am appreciative of the complements I have received. I'm hoping this will go to a good home who will appreciate what it is.
A number of people have asked about the PDP11. The tape drive is from a PDP11/34 (I think) and it will be re-located and is not for sale. Its sad to see the VAX stuff go after twenty years. I'm sure any collector will know how this feels :-(

I've been overwhelmed with the interest in this. There are 53 people watching it and lots of good questions.
I've had a few questions regarding dimensions.
The cabinets are all about 80 cm deep. The two vaxs are about 75cm wide and 110cm high. The controllers are only about 55cm wide by 110cm high and the tape unit it 55cm wide by 185cm high. There are 4 boxes of books, tapes and platters - these are packed in old monitor boxes. Some of this stuff could be put inside the empty controller cabinet and other free spaces.
