VAN RACING V8 VALIANT HARDTOP
A very hard to find Dodge A108 windowless van factory v8 with around 72,000 miles on the clock. Was a 318 and now fitted with a 383 BIG BLOCK which is fun and fast! Ran 15.2 1/4 mile and will be quicker with a dyno tune & TTI headers fitted.
I imported this from the U.S about 2 years ago, ive done nothing the body of the vehicle, it was just a well cared for, mostly original accept for some minor touch ups on the paint here and there that i can see which has been done over its past 45 years but as a whole its a good solid bodied vehicle with only a couple very minor spots of rust on the outer sheetmetal. These vans normally rust very bad in many common spots and all of which on this particular van are good to very good. As a whole, its surprisingly straight for such big long flat side panels.
All electricals work including the factory radio. I also installed an NOS indicator switch into the column when i fitted a new Valiant Charger 3 sports wheel which looks right at home in the van.
I removed the original 318 engine and installed a 383 big block which i cleaned up and went right through. The engine is a standard bore late 67 block ( date code photos on link) which i totally disassembled and rebuilt with all new rings bearings gaskets, plugs etc. I also installed a number of new go fast bits, beefed up and rebuilt the transmission. I put a lot of attention to detail when building the engine. When the 383 was installed it was installed in the same centre line as the original 318 which means its all hooked up to its factory mounting points and still mates up to the factory tailshaft. I found some Dodge truck engine brackets which fit this conversion perfectly and it all looks like a factory install.

Brand new tires all round on newly restored Valiant Road Wheels which were converted to 15" diameter chrome outer rims.
15x8 on 255 tires rear and 15x7 on 175 tires front
Transmission is a special shorty 727 used in many commercial Dodge and Plymouth vehicles in the U.S
I converted the original 318 housing over to a big block which was then sent out and rebuilt with a Mopar Performance trans rebuild kit.
It has braided stainless knockdown and speedo cables installed.
8 3/4 LSD & 3:55 gears
New factory style, heavy duty axle bearings and seals.
All brakes and shoes have all been serviced and some new wheel cylinders were installed. About 3 months ago i put in a new master cylinder too
