Ford Transit Van Mk2 1982 (1 of 2 vans for auction) Unregistered LWB Dual Fuel, ***SLIDING DRIVERS DOOR*** Yep - the ones that you can drive with the door slid open!  Odometershows 35096 - as it only goes up to 99,999km, can't be sure how many times ithas been around the clock. Fresh reco'd 250 motor (only about 15,000km, fitted at 20,099km engine- see photo of engine reco document) starts & runs well. Heavy duty Dual rear tyres. Engine started every few months & heavy duty Bond calcium battery holds charge - but has been fully recharged overnight oneach occasion after engine run.

Purchased in 2009 pretty much as it sits now - since I've owned it has only been driven from previous owner's to my place & been shifted around my yard a few times. Previous owner had been overseas & had not driven it much since reco engine fitted.

3 speed manual ***Reverse gear is not functioning***

Short diff ratio - heaps of torque at low speed & up hills but tops out at about 90kph. Joe from JB Auto in Dandenong has taller ratio "highway"diffs available (along with any other parts or advice you might need for older transits) (0427 792 003  /   (03) 9792 500056-58 Bennet St, Dandenong Vic) . I have read that the internals are interchangeable with ford 9" diff parts.

3 seater - Single driver's seat & dual front bench seat. JB Auto have rear seats available.

Previous owner told me that the petrol tank had a hole in it -  I havenever inspected or put fuel in it so I don't know the exact status of that problem; it may be able to be patched with epoxy putty.

Rear floor lined with ply covered by lino.

Nifty easily removable diagonally folding bed base or shelf for split level storage - see photos (rests on two lengths of 4x2 fixed to walls).

Rear passenger side door can fold back all the way back to the front guard.

Has some rust in the usual places in the older transits. The worst is at the base of the A pillar on passenger side - outer skin is rusted through but structural frame inside is clean & intact. There is another notable spot onthe rear D pillar beneath the gutter where the caulking along the spot welds had cracked & a small leak developed. I have kept the gutters & drainholes clear & this has not progressed any further while I have owned the van. Another small area with several spots through at the "heel" spot beneath the pedals & several other small patches around the footwells & a number of surface bubbles here and there.

On the bonnet, some of the spot welds have come off the cross bracing. The bonnet release cable and its handle in the cab both need replacing, however the bonnet release mechanism can be fairly easily operated with a flat bladed screwdriver.

The join between the driver's side rear D pillar & quarter panel is split top to bottom.

The driver's front guard has a fairly deep vertical crease near the headlight.

The passenger side vent window has been smashed & both rearmost side windows are cracked.

The dashboard & motor/clutch/gearbox in these vans is a mix of the latemodel 6cyl Aussie Cortinas & Falcons of the same era. I have a Hard copyTF Cortina Gregorys repair manual that I will list separately.

There are several kits available for these vans to convert them to late model Holden V6.

The missing plastic end cheek of the driver's side rear bumper is in the backof the van.

I have PDF copies of both the UK official Ford workshop manual & UK Haymes manual that I can burn onto CD if you win the auction.
(Engines & driveline components are different between UK models & Aussie)

Unfortunately previous owner did not have keys for all the door locks but Ihave swapped some of the doors to make both vans lockable. I will NOT be changing them back around as I simply do not have the time to spare. The lock barrels are the same as nearly every other Ford  of the era & I have full sets of keys available for both vehicles.

My original intention was to make one multipurpose work/recreation van out ofthe best parts of both but now with a young family have neither the time nor money required to complete the project.

NB - Driveline components behind the gearboxes and wheels/rims are notinterchangeable between the two vans that I am offering for auction.

While I have tried to list as many of the faults that I am aware of there maybe some that I have missed. Please inspect the van to be sure of what you are getting before you bid. I can supply more photos of specific areas if you wish.

I intend to run the auction till the end - No early offers please, and placeyour highest bid to avoid being outbid at the last minute. Both vans are being sold as is - where is.

Both vans must be paid for AND picked up by the Sunday of the weekend following the end of the auction - please don't bid if you can't fulfil this requirement.
