Ford Transit Van Mk2 1980 Kombi Bus (it has "Kombi" stamped on the compliance plate)  with 2 front 180 degree rotating front bucket "Captain's" seats - rear seats removed (had been converted to a camper). (2nd of 2 vans for auction) Unregistered LWB.  Odometershows 97435 - as it only goes up to 99,999km, can't be sure how many times it has been around the clock.

250 motor is a little tired - mainly top end I think (when on the road was blowing a little grey smoke particularly on start up). Dual throat weber carb needs reco - idle circuit stops working & engine stalls after engine warms up. Switchable dual battery set up for camper (only one battery installed in poor condition - enough to let it run with a jump start to move it on site). It has factory electronic ignition with point free dizzy - when the carb was in good nick it would start at the first touch of the key.

Long Range - twin switchable 50L fuel tanks; one each side (or one may be smaller than the other - can't be sure as I only ever used the passenger side tank).

Removeable cargo barrier (tek screws into floor + screws above seat belts either side.

Purchased roadworthy at the end of 2004  (new tie rod ends fitted for the RWC at 74279km).

Has been off the road under cover for the most part since 2010.

5 speed toploader manual. 2nd gear synchro is a bit worn - jumps out of gear unless you hold it in & a bit hard to get into gear; gearshift lever is broken at its threaded junction a little above floor level but it has a temporary attachment fitted sufficient for moving it around ( I was driving it like this for a couple of months before I let the rego run out). 

Borg Warner highway diff fitted  - Would happily sit on 110 on the freeway. Joe from JB Auto in Dandenong has other ratio diffs available if required (along with any other parts or advice you might need for older transits) (0427 792 003  /   (03) 9792 500056-58 Bennet St, Dandenong Vic) .


I think this was originally a 9 seater bus, but I think that these may have been able to seat up to 12.  - It has 2 front 180 degree rotating front bucket "Captain's" seats fitted. JB Auto have a full set of rear seats available if required.

It is fitted with a retractable passenger rear side step. It also fitted with a rear step to which a towbar (supplied) can be bolted. A trailer plug is fitted. If I recall correctly both of these steps should be able to be unbolted from this van & fitted to the other if you desired.

It has a threaded fitting in the bottom centre of the front panel chassis rail  as pictured - I'm unsure what this is for (winch or towed vehicle bracket perhaps?)

Includes a frame that was fitted when I purchased the vehicle to fit an old style metal sprung single bed base, side arms to suit a "Tradesman" brand roof rack & rear side door magazine tub (loose, not fitted).

Aftermarket adjustable intermittant wiper circuit has been fitted, along with thermofan with override switch (ie you can switch it to run continuously when ignition is on if required). 240V inlet in engine bay with wiring running to rear of vehicle (not connected).

Rear floor lined with ply.

Carpet headling with 12v wiring fitted in sides at rear for lighting.

Rear passenger side door can fold back all the way back to the front guard.

Has some rust in the usual places in the older transits.  There are several small patches around the footwells near the doors & a few surface bubbles here and there.

On the bonnet, the front lip is a bit rusted on the driver's side The bonnet release cable needs replacing, however the bonnet release mechanism can be fairly easily operated with a flat bladed screwdriver.

The driver's front guard has a shallow  horizontal crease high up near the headlight.

The driver's side rear sliding vent window is shattered..

The dashboard & motor/clutch/gearbox in these vans is a mix of the late model 6cyl Aussie Cortinas & Falcons of the same era. I have a Hard copyTF Cortina Gregorys repair manual that I will list separately.

There are several kits available for these vans to convert them to late model Holden V6.

I have PDF copies of both the UK official Ford workshop manual & UK Haymes manual that I can burn onto CD if you win the auction.
(Engines & driveline components are different between UK models & Aussie)

I have swapped some of the doors between the to make both vans lockable. I will NOT be changing them back around as I simply do not have the time to spare. The lock barrels are the same as nearly every other Ford of the era & I have full sets of keys available for both vehicles.

My original intention was to make one multipurpose work/recreation van out ofthe best parts of both but now with a young family have neither the time nor money required to complete the project.

NB - Driveline components behind the gearboxes and wheels/rims are notinterchangeable between the two vans that I am offering for auction.

While I have tried to list as many of the faults that I am aware of there maybe some that I have missed. Please inspect the van to be sure of what you are getting before you bid. I can supply more photos of specific areas if you wish.

I intend to run the auction till the end - No early offers please, and place your highest bid to avoid being outbid at the last minute. Both vans are being sold as is - where is.

Both vans must be paid for AND picked up by the Sunday of the weekend following the end of the auction - please don't bid if you can't fulfil this requirement.
