MODELING TIP!
In real life the "new" look of a vehicle fades quickly. Also the useful life of the tractor/cab~chassis and the trailer/truck body can vary. An older unit may be coupled to a new/newer unit as a cost saving measure, resulting in a vehicle very distinct in appearance. To give your models the appearance of being in daily use, apply a coat of clear matte finish to the vehicle. (clear matte finishes are available for use with an airbrush or in aerosol cans) Use a matte finish approved for the type of material you are applying it to. To create the look for old/newer "mated" units, apply additional matte finish and weathering effects to one of the units of the vehicle.
