N.B. These items are not manufactured by SCALEXTRIC! We are sufficiently proud of them to tell the world that this is a CT&M Product!
Our own superb high performance braids use the lower resistance of copper to make a slimmer, more flexible braid possible, which provides the ultimate conductivity and connection to the track.
This 27mm size is the one for the Easy-Fit slot guide where the braids connect indirectly to the motor leads via wiper plates on the underside of the chassis.
My family and I (plus friends) have tested these on a variety of cars for many hours with outstanding results!
More consistent, smoother power delivery
Better handling and roadholding
Longer braid life
Less track-cleaning neccessary
It doesn't take long to work this one out.....
I spend less, and get more performance.... hmmm...? You don't even have to take my word for it - just read my feedback!
LATEST REPORTS IN! (January 2008)
Our 27mm braids have tested successfully on SCALEXTRIC Digital
I'm hoping I'll have new photos ready to upload for you soon!
The above is now just a little out of date! (July 2008)
A good many of our regular customers are now using our 27mm braids on their Sport Digital cars!
One week, these will sell best. Next week, it may be the 20mm again, with the 40mm never far behind! Rather than try to guess, I keep a big reserve stock made in advance!
In addition to these 27mm braids, we still produce our original 20mm braid, developed for the older cars (mostly pre-1990) recognisable by the connection of the motor wires directly to the braids using a pair of eyelets, sometimes referred to as collets, which push into semi-circular recesses in the back edge of the braid slot.
(Refer to any one of our 20mm braid listings featuring one of my pair of Mini-Clubmans).
This year, we have introduced our 40mm braids for the current Drift Cars and other 360 degree spinners like the old stock cars from the late 80's.
We sell all three sizes of our braids in packs of 4, 10 or 100!
If you're still not sure which pack you need, then visit our eBay Shop's new Hi-Spec Braids Pageto see the full selection and a potted history.
A lot of little advantages add up to one big one!
A little more power: Our copper braid, though considerably slimmer in section, has still only half the resistance of a steel one.
A little more entry speed into every corner: Their thin profile and softness allows the guide to run deep in the slot. If you lose the front end on a corner now, you've really gone in too fast!
Plus: Friction on the track is reduced to minimum, meaning long life and optimised speed! Smooth, consistent power delivery, when you need it, means that you can become a better driver!
And, saving the best news 'til last - they're as cheap as ordinary braids! (even less if you buy our bulk packs)
One more advantage! Your track rails will not 'carbon up' as quickly using copper braids I now hardly ever have to clean my track!
Check out the pictures of the installation on my Ferrari 643-F1. OK, I admit to driving a magnatraction car sometimes! I've finally now been forced to cut that pimple off the front tyre. (It had only started touching the track regularly since fitting the new braids)!
Hawk-eyed members will probably spot I am not using Scalextric track. I'm quite a fan of the old Italian Polistil Formula 175 track, which is still smooth at 30-something years old, and has a bit more width for us hairy old pre-magnatraction drivers to hang the back end out a bit!
This track has a plastic runner between the power-rails and the slot, which is why my braids are spaced a little further out than customary.
Most of you will be using SCALEXTRIC track - you just need to set your braids a little closer to the centre of the guide than I do here:
The braids, are pictured here after about 4 hours running! I think they show more dirt, cleaned off the track than evidence of wear!
I can add now that they have done a LOT more than that, and the ends are starting to look a bit frayed, but they've still got a long life ahead!

Hi, I'm Dave , a former retail trader and 1/10 off-road racer, now in retirement. (My mates all said I should be retired, even when I was racing). That's friends for you! I grew up fascinated by all models mechanical, had tremendous fun control-line flying and have also been a slot-car nut since I first saw the very early ones in the mid-50's (my first set was a Wrenn - 1/52 scale).
I started going through my loft and Ebay-ing its' contents just before Christmas 2006, starting with SCALEXTRIC Cars and Accesories. Cars have all gone now and, since I really don't have an 'Alladin's Cave' that I go back to for more stock, when I say "when it's gone, it's gone" it really is! I later started adding Vintage TAMIYA Spares to which the same applies.
I was amazed at the demand and caught myself out by listing the bulk of my Boomerang front wishbones at a 'buy it now price' that was much too cheap. Well done, those hawk-eyed customers who decimated the stock in a couple of hours! I've learned now. If I have a few of an item and I'm not sure, I'll always auction one first to get an idea of its' value before doing a shop listing.
I listed a couple of PARMA lexan shells which seemed to generate some interest, I still have one or two left so I will list them progressively as time permits. My stock of their 'Custom Colour' Lexan Paint has now all gone, and a box of the PACTRA product, which I was going to list next, did not pass my random sample testing before listing, so I dare not sell it.
I'm getting on with listing my Schumacher CAT and Cougar spares and tyres now. I also had some bits that wasn't really sure if they were worth listing, like the plastic parts only for CVA shocks and other oddments. I tried auction a few and the answer seems to be some are! Also, I have boxes of spares for PB's ' MiniMustang', Maxima' and 'Ace' 1/10 buggies, as well as the French MRX (very strong car, I used to use race one at one time).
I will get a private website setup to list these eventually, but if you do want anything and can't wait, just drop me a line and I'll see what I can find.
