The Three Simple Steps of Brewing

Step One: PREPARATION

  1. Clean & sterilise your equipment.
  2. Mix your Kit Can & malt ingredients in your 30L Fermenter with 4L of warm water & top up with cool water to 21L. (volume may vary according to the specific recipe)
  3. Stir to dissolve.

Step Two: FERMENTATION

  1. Sprinkle the yeast onto the surface.
  2. Seal the Fermenter, fit the airlock and half fill it with water.
  3. Allow the brew to ferment at the desired temperature range Typically 18 -24 degrees. This will take about a week to ten days.
  4. Test it with your Hydrometer to make sure it is finished.

Step Three: BOTTLING

  1. Sterilise the bottles & rinse with cool water.
  2. Add a carbonation sugar drop into each bottle. (2 for a 640ml long neck or 1 for a 330ml bottle)
  3. Use for bottling valve to f ill each bottle.
  4. Cap each bottle firmly with your capping tool.

Store the bottles for a minimum of 3 weeks before they are fully carbonated and ready to drink. Continue to mature your beer for up to 12months. You will notice an improvement as the beer matures.

Frequently asked Questions

Is making my own beer easy?

It could not be easier to make superb beer at home. Use quality ingredients and equipment with just a little patience and you will be enjoying superb beer in a matter of weeks. You only need a small space say in your laundry to sit your fermenter barrel. It takes a week to 10 days to ferment your malts and sugars. Once this is complete you simply bottle your beer put on a crown cap and it is ready to drink in 3 weeks full carbonated. Like a fine wine, you beer will continue to mature in the bottle over time.

How much does it cost to make beer at home?

A fraction of what it costs to buy beer. You can make great recipes that replicate famous beers (see our other listings) such as Asahi or Stella for around 75 -85 cents per bottle or nice simple tasty Australian Lagers for less than 50 cents per bottle. You will be really wrapped in how good it can be as most of our brewers can testify… “It tastes better than the bought stuff.”

Making beer at home is a brilliant hobby and you will be able to amaze your family and friends with the quality brews you produce. You will master it in no time.

How long does it take to make each batch of beer?

Depending on the type of yeast and temperature conditions all up it will take about a month before your beer is ready to drink. It will take you about 30 minutes to prepare it for fermentation the first time you brew and about another 30 minutes to bottle. That is it…the rest is up to the aging process.
