When EMI celebrated their centenary they made the move of reissuing some of their greatest hits in luxury remastered form, with Hounds of Love by Kate bush among those classic to get the treatment. For one of the biggest selling and most popular albums to date, you could question whats the point when many own this in one form or another already. In this instance i'd have to admit that its deffinately one for the diehards, or those picking up for the first time. Over the releases gone by, this offers a rather large 6 bonus tracks, though 2 of which are remixes. The digital mastereing of the disc is deffinately a marvel, however those privvy to previosu incarnations may be put slightly out of joint by the remixing, while sounds previously mudded may be found here in profound clarity, others have been toned down. Its not a drastic change you may think, but to those very familiar its certainly different....for the worse or good is upto you. Those new to the Kate Bush world, or Hounds in Love in general are in for a treat, and album of strict intensity. Description hard to purvey, the album split into 2 "sides" (even tho at the time HOL was actually pressed for CD AND vinyl), the first "Hounds of Love" offering mainly a swift tempoed feel, with the single hits "Running up that hill", "The Big Sky" & "Cloudbusting" charging it. The reverse side "The Ninth Wave" in contrast is really out there, multi layered and etheral with severe spiking to really shake you up. Just....buy.Read full review
